IEC CONSTANT VOLUME THERMOMETER - CHARLES LAW
The IEC Constant Volume Thermometer or (CVT) is a method of proving Charles' Law. In some ways it is similar to the classic Boyle's Law apparatus. A volume of air is heated to a known temperature and the mercury column is adjusted so that the volume of the air remains constant. In this way, the relationship between pressure and temperature of the air is established. In the theoretical Charles' Law, the volume is changed at a constant pressure, but this method of developing the relationship by keeping the volume constant is easier to perform accurately.

The unit requires approximately 150gm distilled mercury (not supplied in the kit).

By removing several components and fitting others, the instrument can be converted into the IEC Boyle’s Law Apparatus.
